Strength of Spirit

“The Strength of Spirit Advisory Committee has allowed the United Way of Saskatoon & Area to have an Aboriginal voice within all areas of the organization.”

Cornelia Laliberte, Partnership Facilitator, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, Strength of Spirit Advisory Committee Chair, United Way Board Member.

The United Way of Saskatoon and Area has reached out to leaders within the Aboriginal community and asked for their advice and guidance in helping the United Way build stronger partnerships with the Aboriginal community in Saskatoon.

Since 2007, the Strength of Spirit Advisory Committee, comprised of Aboriginal leaders, United Way Board members and staff, has worked to guide the United Way forward in connecting with the Aboriginal community in a meaningful and respectful way.

Most recently, they have recommended that the United Way of Saskatoon & Area add a management level staff person to build better relationships with the Aboriginal community. The Director of Aboriginal Relations will also lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to create a United Way inclusive of First Nation and Métis people.
