Volunteer with United Way

United Way of Saskatoon and Area strategically engages hundreds of volunteers each year. Our Board of Directors and the Community Campaign Cabinet are volunteers recruited for their leadership in the community. Our community investment process and events involve members of the community in essential United Way initiatives.

Board of Directors

The United Way of Saskatoon and Area Board of Directors is comprised of community leaders. Each individual member has been approached or nominated based on a matrix of skills and attributes found outlined in our Board of Directors Candidate Guide. Each member brings unique experience and expertise to the board table.

United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s Community Campaign Cabinet is a group of community leaders from the public and private sectors, local agencies, and the labour community. Each Cabinet Member is recruited by the Campaign Chair and senior United Way staff, and is responsible for ensuring successful workplace campaigns within their assigned Campaign Division.

Employee Campaign Chairs

An Employee Campaign Chair (ECC) is the designated leader of their United Way workplace campaign. During the annual campaign and beyond, these individuals become committed members of the United Way Team. They are passionate about community, resourceful, creative and motivated. All ECCs receive United Way training prior to the Community Campaign, and work in partnership with United Way staff and Loaned Representatives to develop the most effective and appropriate campaign for their workplace.

Impact Councils

United Way of Saskatoon and Area is developing a citizens’ learning group under each focus area to help us identify priorities for community investment. Impact Council volunteers come together to learn about current and emerging trends, and the challenges and conditions that make individuals and families in our community vulnerable. The learning and discussions will then culminate into recommendations to the Community Investment Committee on priorities to consider for United Way support.

United Way Event Committees

United Way events require human resources. Sub-committees are recruited during the year to assist in the organization of special fundraising events and initiatives. Time commitments are dependent on the scope of each individual event.

From time to time, United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s office requires volunteers to assist with general office work – especially during the annual campaign.

United Way volunteers improve lives and build community every day. To be a part of the movement, please contact our office at 306-975-7700.
